10 Surprising Things You Forget to Clean

  • Vacuum Filter
    • Did you know many people dump the bag but forget about cleaning out the actual filter? I know I do… Once your filter gets too dirty your vacuum becomes completely pointless! Go clean out those filters! Once I had to use a knife to remove the caked on dust and wash it for over 30 minutes in order to really get it clean. So, take it from me, cleaning regularly will save your vacuum and you time in the long run.
  • Trash Can
    • Don’t let the trash cans build up grime in the bottom! I know it can be nasty in there, but that is precisely why it needs to be done! It will definitely help your house smell more refreshing.
  • Cell Phone
    • We all take it just about EVERYWHERE we go (and that includes the bathroom for most of us). Your phone may be the dirtiest, germiest thing in your home. No lie, on average, cell phones have more dust per square inch than a public toilet seat. (Studies have shown that 16% of phones have E. Coli dust on them.) You wouldn’t put your face that close to a public toilet…
  • Carpets
    • Ask yourself when the last time you cleaned your carpets? Actually, how long has it been since you vacuumed every room in your house?
    • In order to keep your carpets fresh and plush you should be vacuuming twice a week.
    • Most experts agree that your carpets should be cleaned every 12-18 months. But, if you have kids or pets they should be cleaned twice a year atleast.
    • Are you realizing it has been too long? Talk to Chem-Dry.
  • Shower Curtain
    • Have you looked at the dicoloring on your shower curtain? Yeah, that is mold and mildew building up. It’s time to clean that!
    • This one is easy to do–just throw it in the washing machine every other month.
  • Air Vents
    • Clean out your air vents so you can breathe easy. Guaranteed there is a lot more dust in there then you know.
  • Door Knobs
    • Okay, this one is nasty. Have you thought about how many dust are on your doorknobs and locks? dust will remain alive for up to 8 hours on metal surfaces, which means you need to clean them all the time. And, if you think about it, there is no telling what could be on there.
  • Tile
    • If your tile is dicolored and grimey it is in need of a lot of scrubbing and product. If being on your knees with a toothbrush sounds miserable, maybe you should call Chem-Dry to give it that shine it needs.
  • Ice Tray
    • Have you cleaned those ONCE? That’s what I thought. Most people just assume that water is the only thing going in there so it shouldn’t matter. However, it is still smart to give your silicone trays a good vinegar and warm water soak, and run your plastic trays through the dishwasher one a month.
  • Microwave touchpad
    • Think about all of the food splatters, oil, and greese that has been sitting there for months. It is time! Clean it!
